Safety and preparedness
Coordination and training in crisis preparedness and civil defense to strengthen civil preparedness are some of the things The County Administrative Board works with. We coordinate actors in the county during social disturbances, decide on civil protection objects and supervise security protection.
Crisis preparedness
The County Administrative Board's role during crisis preparedness is to coordinate the county's work – before, during and after a societal disruption.

In the event of a bigger societal disruption, we all need to help each other.
You, as a private individual, have the responsibility to initially be able to care for yourself, in order to make sure that the most vulnerable get the help they need.

Risk and vulnerability analysis
The County Administrative Board continuously carry out regional risk and vulnerability analysis. The purpose is to identify and analyze threats and risks that can lead to difficult societal strain.
Protection against accidents
Most commonly, the municipality are responsible for rescue services. If a rescue mission involves several municipalities, the County Administrative Board can help to decide who should lead it. In exceptional cases, we can take over responsibility for the municipal rescue service.
Education and support
The County Administrative Board offers education and training for those who work in crisis preparedness and protection against accidents in the county.
Civil defense
The total defense consists of civil and military defense. The County Administrative Board is the highest civilian total defense authority within the county. Together with the Swedish Armed Forces, we coordinate civil and military defense regionally and we also organize training and exercises. The county administrative boards are divided into six civil areas.
